The first family moved to Riksten Friluftsstad in December 2007. This new area took shape in 2008/2009. Parks in the first stage have been laid, bus route 721 is stopping at the new bus stops along Flottiljvägen and the preschool Nova opened in November 2008. Several families have even moved around in the area, some from an apartment block to a detached house and others have sold their terraced houses and bought a residential land to build on.
More preschools are being planned and Botkyrka municipality has decided to build a new school for preschool to year 9. Last year, the residents organized joint Midsummer celebrations and a Facebook group was recently started, called "Riksten Friluftsstad".
Riksten Friluftsstad is an attractive neighbourhood.
